Unstuck and Unsuck: Why Momentum Is Everything & Comes From WTHN

“It takes leaders with vision to help people with dreams” Ed Mylett

If you’re reading this, there’s some part of you that resonated with the title (and if not thank you for reading anyway). Whether it’s a piece of your life that isn’t going at the speed that you want it to or if you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, you’re not alone.

No matter what that reason is, you’re facing “the hill”. Congratulations. This means you’re not settling for good or average. You’ve questioned enough whether the pain of change is greater than the pain of staying the same.

I want to share a concept we recently discussed in the mentorship I’m currently in called WTHN with Joseph and Lauren Sheehey to give you a tangible example of the work and guidance they provide. If you don't know who they are, definitely give them a follow.

When it comes to our sustained success, there’s a simple but powerful equation:

Momentum = Mass x Velocity

In Personal and Professional Development Terms:

Mass = The Amount of Ideas We Have
Velocity = How Quickly We Move On Those Ideas and Our Rate of Change
Momentum = Our Overall Evaluation of Our Lives in the Present Moment
How We Ideally Want to Coexist With Momentum

So it stands to reason if you have a bunch of ideas (we all do) about what we want to pursue, accomplish, and feel in our lives and don’t take the necessary action to put those ideas into the 3D plane that is our world and reality, not only is the sphere getting bigger but the line now becomes inverted to an uphill battle.

This is where we ask: why aren’t we taking action on the ideas we have?

There’s several components to this (other people’s opinions, limiting beliefs, negative self-esteem, etc that could be affecting the slope of the line) but the main one I want to share is the confidence-competence loop. If you have absolute full competence in something that you do every single day, you’re not lacking confidence or hesitating on doing it again (super basic example: tying your shoes. Probably been awhile since that was difficult but it was at one point).

Awareness is acknowledging when we are trying something completely new or stepping up our game into a new level, doubt inevitably creeps in and affects our competence and along with that our confidence.

We procrastinate. We make excuses. Thinking about it and not acting on it. We lose momentum. We feel stuck. Now we feel like shit about ourselves and we are as Lauren shared “energetically exhausted”. I’ve felt this to my core for awhile.

“Nothing will eat you alive more than knowing what to do and not doing it” Shawn Stevenson

So how do we get unstuck? How do we move forward with courage in spite of the doubt and uncertainty that’s present?

Lauren shared two really big ones I want to share with you: Changing our internal and external environment and mentorship.

Change the thoughts you have associated with the actions you want to take. “What you want wants you too” is a powerful one we discussed.

If you read my Elite Achievement vs Self-Acceptance Blog Post, I talked about the concept of BEAR. Our beliefs lead to our emotions which lead to our actions which lead to our results. Our results then lead to our perceived reality of the world. If we can work on our thoughts which I believe live in between our beliefs and our emotions, this equation becomes a lot more favorable to us.

Finally: mentorship or finding someone who has done the thing you want to do and learn from them how they did it, what mistakes to avoid, and have their support and accountability in the process.

I’ve taken many courses and been in many mentorships since 2018. I have never had this experience with a program before. I have never seen two individuals care more about their mission and purpose, who they serve, and who go the extra mile (definitely miles) for who they serve. I’ve never seen not only teaching/training but also the coaching range that both Joseph and Lauren possess being able to hold space, hear, and support a wide variety of individuals in our current group.

Lastly, I’ve never had mentors that truly see me for me as I am today and the potential I possess quite like them.

Through WTHN, they give you a framework for an authentic and deeply meaningful life. If you want a deeper dive into what WTHN offers, I highly suggest checking out their free resource: Ten Conversation Starters to Reignite Your Relationships (as they are between launches currently).

I appreciate you reading this!
